MAJ feels like stepping into an old room after midnight….a place you really shouldn’t be. Lined with worn books, dark wood and objects whose purpose is not immediately clear. But one of the bookshelves is not a bookshelf at all—it is a hidden door. Behind it, another world begins: old formulas, locked cabinets and secrets that seem to have been waiting for someone curious enough to enter. Black currant stains the air with something dark and tart, bergamot appears like a sudden clue and davana brings its strange fruity-herbal warmth, while coffee, oud and musk pull you farther inside.

Coffee has its own strange history with wakefulness and the unseen—in 15th-century Yemen, Sufi communities drank it during night vigils and prayer to remain alert long into the darkness. Davana goes somewhere completely different: in southern India it has traditionally been woven into garlands and offered in temples dedicated to Shiva, while its scent moves between ripe fruit, herbs, leather and liqueur. Then there is oud—one of the old sacred fragrant woods, burned as incense and preserved as treasure for centuries. That is really the spirit of MAJ to me: curiosity, hidden knowledge and the feeling that there is always another layer behind what you first see.

Fragrant accords of: crushed black currant skins, dark berries and florals, bitter bergamot peel, aromatic davana, roasted coffee beans, dark agarwood resin, polished woods and warm musk. A dark fruity, woody and resinous fragrance with a bright opening, an aromatic heart and a smoky, skin-warm dry down.

You’d reach for MAJ when you want to follow your curiosity — a new idea, a hidden path, a conversation, a decision, something you cannot quite explain yet. It feels like pressing your hand against an old bookshelf and realizing it moves.
