The air still feels silver and sharp; the ground is dark with thawing earth, while somewhere indoors aged orris rests in old drawers—dry, pale, root-like, almost dusty with time.

Symbolically, Narcissus has carried ideas of self-reflection, beauty, renewal and rebirth for centuries, while the flower itself is far more complex than its mythology suggests—green, bitter, earthy and almost narcotic in character. Narcissus absolute, one of the rarest and most expensive floral materials in perfumery. Orris brings a different kind of depth. Made from iris rhizomes that are aged for years before their aroma fully develops, it has that quiet, powdered, almost antique quality that feels connected to memory and things preserved over time, slowly developing into powdered, velvety character that has earned orris its old reputation as perfumery’s “white gold.” Bergamot gives the composition its first opening of fresh air.
